Region 111
AYSO Region 111 is the local American Youth Soccer Organization league for the communities of San Clemente and Capistrano Beach, California. It is one of almost 1000 Regions across the United States that promote the learning and playing of soccer by children ages 4 through 19 in a SAFE, FUN and FAIR environment.
AYSO divides the US into 14 geographic Sections, with Section 11 covering Orange County and parts of LA County and San Diego County. Sections are sub-divided into Areas, and Area 11-L covers the southern part of Orange County. Region 111 is one of 10 Regions in our Area.
The Area 11-L website (ayso11l.org) has a list of the other Regions in our Area. It also has information about inter-Regional play for the more advanced players and older divisions, details about tournaments, and opportunities for coach and referee training.
The Section 11 website (aysosectioneleven.org) contains information about high level tournament play for Regional and Area championship teams.
The National AYSO Organization
In 1964, AYSO was established in the valley north of Los Angeles to help teach kids to enjoy playing soccer. It has grown into a national and international organization involving millions of boys and girls, supported by over 200,000 volunteers.
Unlike most other youth sports programs, AYSO soccer is much more about learning, playing and enjoyment than it is about winning. While games can be very competitive, and the skill levels of players quite high in the upper divisions, the overall vision for the program is "to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives."
To deliver on this vision, all AYSO participants and volunteers subscribe to the Six Philosophies, a Player's Code and a Parent's Code. The links on the left menu provide all the details.
Additionally, AYSO is very diligent with regard to the safety of the children and the volunteers that work with them. There are strict requirements for volunteer certification, physical safety and positive encouragement. This is encompassed in the Safe Haven Child & Volunteer Protection Program.
The AYSO National website (ayso.org) describes the many facets of the organization, these concepts and the various programs in detail.
